Chronology of cameras Agfa Ansco
Agfa and Ansco joined forces in the American market between 1928 and 1943. Agfa-Ansco, a subsidiary of I.G. Farbenindustrie in the United States infiltrated by Nazi spies (as reported on the evening of August 5, 1951), was absorbed as enemy property, and Ansco continued its activities independently.
During this period, some models were marketed under the Agfa Ansco or Ansco brand. This partnership is the reason why one can find Agfa cameras labeled "Made in USA."
The Agfa Ansco Shur-Shot Special D-6 uses Agfa D-6 film, which is the 116 film format. Its U-shaped lines on the front indicate that it was manufactured after 1939.
This camera supports dual format functionality and is equipped with viewfinders featuring marked frames, dual frame counters, and hinged flaps on the film carrier. The lens is fixed to the film carrier and moves with it.
A lever controls two apertures and a yellow filter, and a removable close-up lens allows for shots at distances of 5 to 10 feet or beyond 10 feet.
It's surprising to note that the majority of the front faces of this model are often found in poor condition.
